World Contest 2010

E-mail Print PDF

International Radio DX-Group (Spirit of Australia) is organising again a real world contest open for all 11m DXers of good will, whatever group they belong to or not. Please note we got new rules !

Q1 : 27th Feb. (12.00 h UTC) – 28th Feb. 2010 (12.00 h UTC)

Q2 : 29th May (12.00 h UTC) – 30th May 2010 (12.00 h UTC)

Q3 : 28th Aug. (12.00 h UTC) – 29th Aug. 2010 (12.00 h UTC)

Q4 : 27th Nov. (12.00 h UTC) – 28th Nov. 2010 (12.00 h UTC)

1. Participants

All 11m DXers, whatever group they belong to, are invited to take part in this world contest. You just have to use the same callsign for the whole contest (e.g. if you work contest with a friend and use multi-callsign, do not give out a contest progressive number with your own callsign!).

2. Date

The contest 2010 is divided in 4 parts, Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4. Each part is a single independent contest with own results. But we will also classify a winner of all parts together. The contest is running to the above mentioned dates. It always starts on Saturday, 12.00 h UTC and closes on Sunday, 12.00 h UTC. Please pay attention that the mentioned times are UTC (=GMT, =world time).

3. Modes and frequencies

All modes of emission are possible, e.g. SSB, AM, FM, CW, RTTY, AMTOR, PACTOR, SSTV, PSK31 etc. It is possible to use all frequencies on 11m band (26.000 - 27.995 MHz). But you must not use 26.285, 27.440, 27.555 MHz and 27.730 MHz for QSO. The main activity areas should be: 26.200-26.400 and 27.600-27.800. Besides you should pay attention not to disturb DXpeditions.

"DXers are advised to use their radios regarding to local radio rules!"

4. Logbook and Table of Result Form

It is absolutely necessary to use the official logbook and the official table of results sheet, which you can download from our webside or order from the contest supervisor. Please send an address label or SAE (self addressed envelope) and also 1 IRC or 1 IRCC for return postage.

Please Note: All QSOs must be registered in progressive numbers received (only from contest stations) and passed. The date and time must be logged following UTC (1 min. resolution) and the frequency must be logged in 5kHz resolution (e.g. 27.675 MHz). Besides you have to log mode, RS(T)-report and callsign. (Op. name is not necessary.)

Both forms need to be filled out correct and sent to the contest supervisor by postal mail or e-mail. If you send your log via e-mail, please make sure that the logbook is in same order as official logbook.

PROG. NO. / DATE / UTC / QRG / MODE / RST / CALLSIGN / (NAME) / PROG. NO. RX

5. Restrictions

Contacts with your own DXCC division (entity) are not valid.

Only one contact per station is valid inside a contest (e.g. Q2). Double QSOs count as a single QSO only!

QSOs made on the monitor frequency 26.285, 27.440, 27.555 & 27.730 MHz are not valid for the contest. The participant must operate within the same division (dxcc entity) during the contest.

You just have to use the same callsign for the whole contest.

6. QSLs

For the world contest it is not necessary to exchange QSL cards. If you want to exchange QSL with your QSO partner you should ask for permission and think about voluntary contribution.

This rule is important to keep the contest cheap and to give operators from most wanted countries a change to take part in the contest without the obligation to send QSLs.

Note: Do not send QSLs to the Contest Supervisor!

7.   Classification

Radio stations can be single or multi operator (minimum 2 operators) and must operate within same division (dxcc entity). Multi operator stations must use one callsign with separation and "multi", i.e. 13IR012 / MULTI.

We classify following categories:

single operator, multi operator and SWL - all in mixed mode only.

8.   N E W  Scores

1 point for each QSO with any station from outside your division
+1 points for each QSO with an IR or YL-club member (callsign)
+1 point for each QSO with a multi operator or ØØØ club station
+5 points for each different contacted division
(following IR-DX prefix list)

Note: Double QSOs do not count! Only one contact per station is valid. For better understanding how to use “table of results” see example.

9.   Contest Supervisor

Daniel (13IRØ74), P.O. Box 1243, D-91312 Hoechstadt/A., Germany

Please do not put any callsign on the envelope!

e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Including the logbook you have to send the table of results to the contest supervisor by postal mail or e-mail.

For e-mailed logbooks use attached files named with the callsign as .txt or .xls- or .dbf-file or in simple tabular form. Same for table of results as .txt-file or .doc files. For example:

single operator log:  13ir1111.xls    and   table of results:  13ir1111.doc
multi operator log:  13ir012m.txt     and   table of results:  13ir012m.txt

Together the table of results and the logbook must be received at the contest supervisor before

  • 28. April 2010 (Q1)
  • 30. July 2010 (Q2)
  • 29. October 2010 (Q3)
  • 28. January 2011 (Q4)

The logbooks are controlled and cross-checked so it is necessary to send in a correct logbook and table of results. For wrong entries penalty points can be awarded. With more than 10 penalties the station is disqualified.

10. Contest certificates

If you wish to receive a contest certificate, please enclose 3 € or 3 IRCCs with your logbook and table of results.

11. Final Results and Prizes

We need at least 20 participants who send in the complete log and table of results to have a valid contest result. Then the final results will be published on www.irdx.org

Prizes will be awarded during any IR-DX meeting 2011.

1st, 2nd and 3rd prize will receive a certificate and a nice plaque or plate.

Special prices will be offered by YL Co-ordinator for those female stations doing most contacts with their YL callsigns!

Good luck in contest !

Example LOG:

NOTE: This year is not important, if other stations also taking part in IR-DX World Contest! You get extra points for divisions, IR members and multi operator / club stations.
